About Paul and His Music

Most people refer to my music as 'romantic piano'. Sometimes they call it 'New Age' or 'Spiritual'. It's kind of hard to label music when it's constantly changing and evolving, and my music is always doing that. Someone once called my music 'soul music'. I liked that a lot. In the last 5 or 6 years so much has happened in my heart and head musically, that I have a new perspective about life, love, fear, peace, judgement, family, romance and a lot of new feelings about my own form or style of music.

You know how the hair stands up on your arms or the back of your neck sometimes? That's the way life is supposed to be all the time! One big "hair on the back of your arms experience!" Whether it's because of what someone has said, what you've seen, what you've thought, or what you've heard sometimes you're really moved inside. Music is a form of energy and I think it's as important to be responsible with your musical energies as with any thing else you do. My music is the most honest way I've learned to share what I've found on my path, on my journey, inside my heart and somewhere deep in my soul. I love playing music for people more than anything else. Maybe listening to this music, you'll find a part of you that you've forgotten or simply had not yet realized was even there. And maybe, from YOU listening, I'll do the same.

Background

My history is probably way too complex. I've been a single contract writer, lyricist, studio pianist, backup vocalist while simultaneously making t-shirts, selling fudge, roasting coffee and living in the New Mexican mountains. I'm always changing and where I am now is better than anywhere I think I've ever been. But every place is equally important. After years of playing everyone else's music, and loving it, I started recording my own music in the summer of 1996. More than any other audience, I love the ones where people just want to sit quietly for a few minutes and go somewhere new and loving. That circular experience is the most awesome thing I know of.
